Mailbox Telling Georgia stories
I continue to get comments on the story you did about me and the Georgia Department of Economic Development [see “Welcome, world!” January 2007, page 14]. I have received so many positive remarks, and I so much appreciate your ability to convey the excitement and enthusiasm we have all had in marketing our great state. I am impressed by the incredible circulation that GEORGIA Magazine has. Bravo to you and your staff and the wonderful work you do in telling Georgia stories. Best always. —Craig S. Lesser, managing director, McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP, Atlanta
Magazine has reachYour magazine has reached a lot of people out of town who attend our rodeo. Proceeds from the event July 13-14 go to our volunteer fire department to buy new equipment. We always have professional entertainment and the best cowboys and cowgirls in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rodeo circuit. Our act is chosen as the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas every year. We thank you very much for listing the rodeo each year. —Glenda Davis, Catoosa County Fire & Rescue PRCA Rodeo, Ringgold
An invaluable learning toolMany thanks to your staff for the good work that you do with GEORGIA Magazine each month. We have been delighted with our subscription and have been most appreciative of the information about our state provided to us through your magazine. Each year I encourage our teachers here at Hawthorne to make use of this invaluable learning tool. Thank you again for your generosity and continue your good work. —Johnnie D. Jones, teacher-librarian, Hawthorne Theme School of Communication & Technology, Atlanta
Thanks for helping our youth The Georgia 4-H Foundation appreciates your support of the Photography Project. Your gift to the Georgia 4-H Foundation directly impacts the program and assists county and state 4-H faculty by providing scholarships, awards and incentives for Georgia 4-H members, resources to improve our 4-H centers, and training opportunities for 4-H’ers, adult volunteers and 4-H faculty across the state. The increasing need for private gifts to Georgia 4-H continues to grow as we work to meet the needs of Georgia’s youth. Your support is a critical component to the success of the program and enables us to continue these programs and efforts, which are not publicly funded. —Arch D. Smith, 4-H associate state leader, Athens |
